A World without walls
everyday life while homeschooling overseas
Our branch here plans a BIG branch activity every year for everyone. This year, we all went to Udawalawe National Park! It was SOOO much fun!! Our family got up at 1:30am and walked over to the church to meet everyone. We hopped on 2 big tour buses, and off we went! We were able to arrive at the park by 6:30am for our Jeep Safari, and it was spectacular! We saw elephants, crocodiles, peacocks, eagles, pelicans...birds of SO many varieties!! But mostly, we saw LOTS of elephants! There were herds and families with little babies! So cute!! Our jeep driver was a little...daring, and liked to race the other jeep drivers a LOT. I have to admit that there were times when I was rather terrified! But it was SO MUCH FUN! After our safari, we headed to a 'watering hole' for some swimming to cool off. Oh, it was SOO hot! Everyone really enjoyed that! Following our swim, we stopped for lunch at a local place and had some rice and curry and fish, then off we went home! We had a few little issues where our buses A/C stopped working...so they had to stop and fix it a few times! Gosh, it was SWELTERING inside that bus! Whew! But they managed just fine to get it up and going again, and we were only about 2 1/2 hours late getting home! Ha! Not too bad!! As soon as we arrived, we ran home where Dev and I showered as fast as possible because we had a dinner party to go to! Doh! We left the kids--the big kids with orders to put the littles to bed--and we took off for our dinner party. The food was amazing, the music was loud and fun, and it was good to see friends and chat, but my eyes kept closing! I was SO tired! So we were only able to stay about an hour. We came home late, and Claire was desperately trying to stay awake so she could say goodnight to us! Poor girl! The boys were already asleep. As soon as I hit the mattress, I was out cold. While it was crazily exhausting, man it was fun! It made for a really great April Fool's Day, and that's no joke! (he he)

Emily's books
by Dan Brown
I like that the plot twists and turns a lot...and it makes you think. However, I don't appreciate Dan Brown's endings in his books. I find the endings incongruent with the rest of his stories--why make it a romance for the last chapter...

I loved this book. I'm a sucker for fairy tales/fantasy. This was so well written! I can't wait to read all the rest of her books!

I'm reading this one again. I liked it the first time I read it. I'm still liking it for the second time around. I like all of Shannon Hales' books.
