Grease a 9x13 pan, line with baking paper, and turn on your oven to 350F/180C.
Place Syrup and butter in a small saucepan over low heat until the butter is melted.
Meanwhile, mix all dry ingredients together in a large mixing bowl.
Beat the egg into the milk in a separate container.
Once the butter is melted, add slowly to the dry ingredients while mixing with a hand-mixer. Mix well. When it is well mixed, add the egg/milk mixture a little at a time until everything is well blended. It will be runny (cake consistency).
Pour the mixture into the prepared pan and bake for 30-40 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes clean and/or it bounces back to the touch.
Let cool in pan about 10 minutes, then turn onto a cooling rack, gently pull the paper off, and you can either eat it warm (it's absolutely delicious!) or let it cool.
This lasts us about 15 minutes.
