First and foremost, I really enjoy cooking! I love coming up with yummy, healthy, tasty food for my family, and I love sharing it! I will be posting not only some of my favorite recipes, but some meal plans, some of our favorite snacks, and many kid-friendly meals that we use constantly!
Second, my husband and I BOTH come from a long line of diabetes. Neither of us wants to have to deal with that, and we'd rather our kids didn't either! So, we try to manage our meals and diet appropriately for avoiding any of the myriad complications of that disease. Other health issues we deal with are celiac disease and tree nut allergies. Since I can't have wheat and my daughter can't have nuts, we have to do a little dance around each other often! I can't have a nut-free zone, as that's half my diet, and she can't have a wheat-free zone, because that's hers! I think it's beneficial, though, as she has learned how to take care of her allergy and be aware--I don't worry about her going to a friend's house because she will always ask if there are nuts, and she won't eat them!
Third, we believe in having a good food storage (always useful in the unstable economy we all 'enjoy'), and we also believe in knowing how to USE it!! So there will be recipes using a lot of food storage recipes, with tips on how to store, what to store, WHY to store, and general useful information on the subject! And how to manage that with celiac disease, nut allergies, and diabetes!
