A World without walls
everyday life while homeschooling overseas
The stake put on a seminary program and had each ward/branch put on a skit from a certain section of the D&C. It was LOOOOOONG and I still don't understand why everyone loves to put on LOOOOOOONG skits that are, quite frankly, slightly boring. Everyone did basically the same thing: The kids would wander on and off the stage while some narrator would drone on and on in a flat tone of voice. Not sure how that's supposed to inspire these kids to want to read more. It made me want to go home and watch a good movie. Then, after THREE AND A HALF HOURS of this, they told us that now they're going to play fun games and rotate through the church, then eat some food and have a party! Andrew, Claire, and I left. I'm glad we did, too. We got there at 3:30pm. We left at 7pm. The activity ended at almost 10pm. No. Way. Maybe I'm evil not wanting to spend my entire Saturday afternoon at an activity that I was told would only be TOPS 2 hours long. My time is precious and I'd rather spend it with my kids--especially since they had to finish up their finals! Good times.

Giant Easter eggs and squeaky chicks...Can't get much better than that! Even though we're missing Josh and Devin, we still had a nice Easter...
This was absolutely hilarious! Apparently, these lovely indigenous ladies have found a niche in the world of tourism: WWF-style wrestling! The embassy arranged for our trip up, and I'm glad we went. It was rather silly and we laughed at both the wrestlers and the audience below us. Gotta love ladies in giant fluffy skirts flipping each other over and throwing each other out of the ring! :D We got our taste of being outside and climbing REAL rocks! SO much fun! the kids did awesome! They even got to do some repelling! It must be standardized testing time again... A tradition my kids actually look forward to, since they get piles of gummy bears and treats to help them through the test!
Josh offered his services to the local school here to help them remake their recruitment video! It was fun to trail after him as he used his drone to fly over a soccer game; ran through the middle of basketball practices with his camera attached to a gimbal; held a boom mic over the heads of teachers and administrators while they shared their experiences; etc. I can't wait to see what he does with it!
I suppose that does sound sacreligous. However...He is! We went to the temple for the last time as a whole family before the temple closed for cleaning and before Josh went to the states for his internship. While at the temple, we visited the Christ statue there! It's just a tiny bit bigger than the famous 'Christ the Redeemer' statue in Rio...because in Rio, they built the statue to 33 meters: one meter for every year of Christ's life. However, here in Bolivia, they know that Christ lived for 33 years...y un poco mas. So, it's taller. :D We love to cook at our house! Banana (gluten free!!) pancakes, popovers by Claire (not gluten free), sweet potato casserole by Peter, and, well, microwave popcorn by Andrew... :P

Emily's books
by Dan Brown
I like that the plot twists and turns a lot...and it makes you think. However, I don't appreciate Dan Brown's endings in his books. I find the endings incongruent with the rest of his stories--why make it a romance for the last chapter...
by Shannon Hale
I loved this book. I'm a sucker for fairy tales/fantasy. This was so well written! I can't wait to read all the rest of her books!

I'm reading this one again. I liked it the first time I read it. I'm still liking it for the second time around. I like all of Shannon Hales' books.
**Still lots of fun the second time around! I do like this book for a comfortable...
