A World without walls
everyday life while homeschooling overseas
Thanksgiving! A time for family and a for a LOT of food! :D The kids ALL helped make all sorts of food--from Claire's pies to Peter's sweet potatoes! Then we pulled out all the Christmas decorations and put up the Christmas tree--with my two sillies who found our Arab garb (and the Amish beard) in the boxes and decided to sing Arabic songs and drink 'beer' (Guarana soda). Oh brother. My kids are super silly! It was a quiet Thanksgiving with just our family singing songs, eating food, and watching movies. Nice.
The Muela del Diablo (Devil's Tooth) is an iconic sight and hike here in La Paz. From reading guidebooks and things, I've learned that it's a volcanic plug from an extinct volcano! It really does look like a molar from far away and close up. Pretty crazy! We went up with a group of friends from the embassy and hiked up to the tooth. It was the PERFECT day for a hike--overcast and cool. The scenery was gorgeous, as per usual here in Bolivia. :) We saw fields of sheep, stick bugs walking the trail, a mountain range that looked like Sibelius' monument in Finland (like organ pipes!), and breathtaking views from the top. The kids didn't come as they had LOTS of homework, but I can't wait to take them!
Some fun activities at the church lately! Such as graduation from Primary (Andrew), Young Women in Excellence (Claire--and she even played her flute for the whole stake!), Youth Activities, etc!
Cooking with a local!! The kids had SO much fun learning to cook various Bolivian foods with a professional chef! And it was YUMMY!!! They learned 4 different dishes, plus all sorts of names of foods that are indigenous to Bolivia...so fascinating! Then we took all our new recipes home, and the kids made a Bolivian Dinner for all of us! YUM!
My clothes ALL smell like nasty moth balls!!! What should I do? Toss them out the window and let them sit in the sun in the yard all day, of course! :D
Who Am I?
As a Stay At Home Mom of 4 wonderful children, I have the amazing opportunity not only to home school them, but to do so in many different places! I am married to the most amazingly wonderful (and handsome) man in the whole world! Together, we seek out, every day, that Joy in the Journey that makes life exciting!
by Dan Brown
I like that the plot twists and turns a lot...and it makes you think. However, I don't appreciate Dan Brown's endings in his books. I find the endings incongruent with the rest of his stories--why make it a romance for the last chapter...
I loved this book. I'm a sucker for fairy tales/fantasy. This was so well written! I can't wait to read all the rest of her books!
I'm reading this one again. I liked it the first time I read it. I'm still liking it for the second time around. I like all of Shannon Hales' books. **Still lots of fun the second time around! I do like this book for a comfortable...
