A World without walls
everyday life while homeschooling overseas
A Christmas tradition: drinking hot cocoa and watching the Polar Express in our own "train"! Such a great break after a long and stressful week.

Mom, if we clean our room, can we spread white sheets on the floor so it can be Hoth? Ok. Welcome to Hoth:
We had the great blessing of attending church today. Not only that, some friends of ours from Africa were there! Our VERY first neighbors/sponsors in the Foreign 'Circus' were here for a conference! It was so great to see old friends and sit and chat like we'd never been apart...to remember funny things that happened and reminisce about old times. While living the life we live is difficult, the best part about it is the friends that we make all over the world--and the fact that world is not such a big place after all, so we have lots of opportunities of seeing them again. Hooray for friends that enrich our lives!
Blessings for Day 3:
#1--I have a GREAT hair stylist who gives me AWESOME hair cuts!! I know that sounds sort of shallow, but let me tell you, when you have really short hair, it's painful if it's a bad cut. A good hair cut can lift your spirits so much! :) #2--Date night with my hubby! I love that Devin is trying to be more intentional about having date night together. He works so hard for both work and church...and I think sometimes he feels like he leaves his family in the dust (partly because the kids are always telling him that!)... However, this couldn't be further from the truth. I know that he works that hard because he loves us! It would be terrible if he didn't have a job, or didn't want to serve others. I keep trying to tell the kids that! But he really HAS been trying to do more with us all. He is such a good man and I love him so very much! #3--CLAIRE said, "I really love living here! The people at church are so nice, and we have a nice house. It's really easy to live here." WOW!! I honestly NEVER thought I'd hear that from anyone in my family, least of all her! Talk about a MIRACLE! It made my heart soar to hear that. It also reminded me that comments like that aren't going to happen all the time, that we all have good and bad days, but that when those sorts of comments DO come out, well, it's something to be celebrated. AND it tells me that they do actually like it here--and we will most certainly miss it when we leave! It's so important to make the most of every day. Day #2 Blessing... Devin and I exercise on a regular basis. He rides his bike or runs to work; I do aerobics, yoga, or run in the mornings before school starts; our kids usually sit and watch. :) This morning however, I came into the living room to see this: What a blessing! They had pulled out the trampolines and the kids' trampoline exercise DVD, and they were giggling and laughing and moving! It may be a one-time thing...or it may be the start of something new. Regardless, it was a fun surprise this morning! I need to add one more thing: As part of the Christmas Season, our church has put out an Amazing Program: Light the World There is a short (think 2 1/2 minutes long) video that is really marvelously done, and there is an advent calendar with one thing to do each day of the month leading up to Christmas to help us center or celebration more on the Savior and living as He did. (Here is one for little kids, too!!) Today's is honoring our parents. I talked to my parents--and my grandparents--this morning, but I want to publicly say how AWESOME my parents are! I love them so much and am so grateful for they have done and continue to do for me and for my little family! They are kind, loving, accepting, and happy. I love you, Mom and Dad!! |
Who Am I?
As a Stay At Home Mom of 4 wonderful children, I have the amazing opportunity not only to home school them, but to do so in many different places! I am married to the most amazingly wonderful (and handsome) man in the whole world! Together, we seek out, every day, that Joy in the Journey that makes life exciting! Archives

Emily's books
by Dan Brown
I like that the plot twists and turns a lot...and it makes you think. However, I don't appreciate Dan Brown's endings in his books. I find the endings incongruent with the rest of his stories--why make it a romance for the last chapter...

I loved this book. I'm a sucker for fairy tales/fantasy. This was so well written! I can't wait to read all the rest of her books!

I'm reading this one again. I liked it the first time I read it. I'm still liking it for the second time around. I like all of Shannon Hales' books.
**Still lots of fun the second time around! I do like this book for a comfortable...
