A World without walls
everyday life while homeschooling overseas
Do you think she has enough stuffed animals yet?? Is she even in there??!? I guess it's a good thing they gave her a queen size bed this time. Otherwise she'd be sleeping on the floor...or in another room. Sheesh.

Another joyful discovery... Just today we discovered that we have one of these trees in my front yard!! Reason #4,356 to love my house! Make a joyful noise!!! Our UAB came today... Our HHE and consumables from Jordan came last Tuesday. Today, we got EVERYTHING that we had shipped from Idaho. We have WAY too much STUFF!! Gah! But, I have to admit, it's sure nice to have ALL of our stuff here. After I put away all this, it's time to put up our pictures! Now, we're home. Look what we found as our new PE class: Oh yah! It was great fun! Even I got to join in on the fun! All the kids loved it, and we can't wait to go back next week!! Bullseye!! The coolest thing was as we were leaving: some professional archers were practicing. Their target was so far away, that there was a telescope set up next to them for people to look through and tell them where their arrow hit! Wow! All the kids took turns looking through so they could tell him where he hit the target. He never missed. It was super impressive!! Holy Gorgeous, Batman! Maybe we should extend??!? Wow. This beach is a ten minute drive from our house. Amazing! The kids were so happy! The squeals of delight, giggles, running from the waves, and building forts (and watching them be washed away) did my heart a world of good. I think this will be a regular outing during our week!! So yesterday, I came home from doing some shopping, and found that our family had increased by one: Apparently a crow picked this little guy up, then dropped him in our yard. He didn't even have his eyes open yet! The kids fed him milk from a Q-tip and put him in a box, and kept a constant vigil. They named him Nutty. Last night, they tucked him into his box, and this morning he was gone. Sad. However, they found him a few hours later, and now he's safely back in the fold. :/ He seems to really like Andrew! The little guy will just sit there on Andrew. Look at that smile. How can you say no to that? What's this, you might ask? Is it my new house? Oh no...it's the kitchenette and dining room of our hotel in Dubai!! Wow! Talk about awesome! Off to the left was our living room: Yes. Living room. Around the corner was the hallway to the THREE bedrooms!! And we also had a laundry room complete with our own washer and dryer and 3 1/2 bathrooms. Not bad for a 12 hour layover, eh? Another plus, we were on the 11th floor and had a fabulous view. When we arrived, this is how it looked: The next morning, this is what we saw: Pretty, eh? It was HOT (43 C), humid and dusty. But pretty neat! And along that skyline is the tallest building in the world! Here it is a little closer: And now we're off for more fun in the sky... |

Emily's books
by Dan Brown
I like that the plot twists and turns a lot...and it makes you think. However, I don't appreciate Dan Brown's endings in his books. I find the endings incongruent with the rest of his stories--why make it a romance for the last chapter...

I loved this book. I'm a sucker for fairy tales/fantasy. This was so well written! I can't wait to read all the rest of her books!

I'm reading this one again. I liked it the first time I read it. I'm still liking it for the second time around. I like all of Shannon Hales' books.
