A World without walls
everyday life while homeschooling overseas
We've had some funny internet growing pains here... A few weeks into our tour, our internet all of a sudden went out. I could not figure it out! I rebooted the router...turned off all the computers...did everything I could think of. Devin and his co-workers were working hard to try to get someone out here, and there were a lot of miscommunications, but it took 2 DAYS to get someone here! In the meantime, we had no internet and had lots of online classes! Luckily, I had some internet on my phone, so we used it as a hotspot for classes. Finally, someone from the internet company came. I brought them to the router and showed them the blinking (and non-blinking) lights. They asked to see where the line connected, so they followed it into the boys' room...and lo and behold, it was UNPLUGGED!!! Seriously??!? Apparently, Andrew tripped over the cord and it came unplugged...and he didn't re-plug it. In my defense, it was UNDER the bed, so I didn't see it, but oh, I felt so stupid!
Fast forward a few weeks... Since we're on pre-pay, our bill is due at the beginning of the month. Devin went in to pay on Monday (the 2nd) and there was no bill there for us yet. He went in again on Tuesday. Still no bill. Nothing on Wednesday either. Fast forward to yesterday...the kids and I were doing our morning desk work online, and all of a sudden, 9am, there's NO internet. I thought maybe one of the kids tripped on the cord again, but no, there was just no internet! Long story short--after Devin talked with the company, he found that they had FINALLY posted the bill to the bank that morning at 8am, and since it hadn't been paid yet (by 9am!!!!), they cut our access!!! Holy cow! The customer service lady said that his bill had been posted online since Monday--but that's not helpful if the bill isn't posted at the bank in order to be paid! Yah. It was crazy. As soon as it was paid, we got our internet back, but we did have to use my phone for some of our morning online classes again. *sigh* The joy of getting used to a new service! Just another day in the life...

Mountains and floating boxes...what’s not to love? We rode the yellow line up to El Alto: 13,000+ feet elevation! It was COLD up at the top! Like frigid!! Sort of like that snow covered mountain you can see in the distance... I still can't get over the fact that we live in the tops of the Andes Mountains in South America. SMH.

Emily's books
by Dan Brown
I like that the plot twists and turns a lot...and it makes you think. However, I don't appreciate Dan Brown's endings in his books. I find the endings incongruent with the rest of his stories--why make it a romance for the last chapter...

I loved this book. I'm a sucker for fairy tales/fantasy. This was so well written! I can't wait to read all the rest of her books!

I'm reading this one again. I liked it the first time I read it. I'm still liking it for the second time around. I like all of Shannon Hales' books.
**Still lots of fun the second time around! I do like this book for a comfortable...
